Myths about Expat Life

While Matt and I were back in the U.S., we often heard people tell us "I could never do what you're doing", as if we are doing the impossible (which we're not).  This got me thinking that despite my efforts to explain my life here in India (the good, the bad, the frustrating...), there are several myths about expat life that simply aren't true.

I came across a fellow expat blogger in Burundi, Africa, who has explained it so well that I have to re-post it here.

If you're an expat and have any more thoughts on this, please comment below!

I hope that everyone has a great weekend. We are finally enjoying a break from the 100 degree temps, and plan to make good use of it!

Postcards from Amsterdam

It has been too long since my last blog post. These past few weeks have been crazy/busy/exciting.

Matt arrived in the U.S. August 1, and we went on a whirlwind tour between Milwaukee, Chicago, Pelican Rapids MN, and Minneapolis. We loved every minute of visiting with our family and friends and appreciate those who made the time to see us during our short visit.

Before settling back into our reality in India, we were able to visit Amsterdam for a few days during our layover.  I wasn't really sure what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised by what a beautiful city it was.

We spent most of our time walking around the canals, eating cheese and stroopwafels, trying new Dutch beers, and gawking at the Red Light district. Surprisingly, with all the cannabis and promiscuity, it is a very relaxed, safe and friendly city.

Here are some of my favorite snapshots...

Apple Pannekoeken

We arrived in India around 1:30am last night and are staying in Delhi until Saturday morning while Matt works at the office here. I am really looking forward to getting back into our apartment so I can unpack my suitcase for the first time in months. I am anticipating several things to be not working in our apartment, so at least I am mentally prepared for that.

This blog will return to its regularly scheduled expat-shenanigans soon!
